A recent study suggested that there is an increased likelihood of divorce for people surrounded by friends who have gotten a divorce, CBS New York stated on April 30.
Researchers at Brown University revealed that 75 percent of their participants who had friends who experienced divorce may possibly think of ending their own marriage, 33 percent may also be compelled just by knowing that their friend’s friend got divorced. A phenomenon called “social contagion,” in which ideas are spread through social interaction, is the phenomenon which may encourage more people to divorce, researchers said.
