A Reuters article on November 10 stated that Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm was ordered to pay his estranged wife a $995.5 million settlement in their divorce.
The settlement was recently ordered by Oklahoma Special Judge Howard Haralson. Sue Ann Hamm, who was a former executive of Continental Resources, had a significant role in the company’s massive growth. Before the year ends Harold will need to settle over $322 million to Sue Ann. The remaining settlement worth $650 million will be paid through monthly installments. Aside from the settlement millions worth of properties were already awarded to Sue Ann when the case was filed two years ago. The estranged couple did not have a prenuptial agreement when they got married in 1988.

Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young and his wife, Pegi, will end their 36 years of marriage, the couple announced recently.
Young filed for the divorce on July 29, 2014, but did not indicate reasons for filing. There has been no comment from Neil or Pegi since news of their divorce became public.
Neil Young’s fans speculated on the rift in the couple’s marriage. They noticed that Young played Separate Ways on a July 13 concert in Liverpool and Days That Used to Be on a July 10 concert in Cork, Ireland.
It is not likely that the ex-couple will both appear at Young’s concert on Saturday, September 13 at the Farm Aid in Raleigh, North Carolina. Pegi’s name, along with her backup group The Survivors, was removed from the lineup of the performers for that day, which include Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Jack White, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews.

Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli have recently announced that they will be getting divorced after 11 years of marriage.
According to sources in the case, the couple announced their split this week and have made it clear that “no third party” was involved. There have been rumors that a Canadian woman in her late 20s is the reason for the couple’s split.
The couple released a statement earlier in the week, “while we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children. We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time.”
Earlier today it was announced that Dennis Quaid’s third wife, Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, has filed for divorce after nearly eight years of marriage.
Buffington-Quaid says that a conflict of personalities has destroyed their marriage and promises no possibility of reconciliation. She is asking for spousal support and attorney’s fees. A temporary custody order suggests that both parents plan to share custody of their twins, who heralded national attention after they nearly died of an overdose shortly after birth.
The temporary order states that Buffington-Quaid will have possession of the couple’s main residence and Mercedes. Quaid will get the condo and Cadillac Escalade. She is asking for an even split of their assets, but reports say Quaid doesn’t want her to get anything.

Last Thursday evening, a California Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, Ezequiel Garcia, shot Kevin Kozak, his superior officer, six times.
The shooting was said to be incited from an argument during Garcia’s performance counseling. Fortunately, Kozak is in stable condition. Garcia was shot and killed by a third officer nearby. It was stated by Garcia’s wife that they were considering divorce after 14 years of marriage. She believes that Garcia’s actions could be related to the pending divorce.
“We are doing everything humanly possible to understand why it happened and ensure it will not happen again,” said Special Agent in Charge, Claude Arnold.

On Tuesday morning, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled that Proposition 8, the ban on gay marriage in the state of California, is unconstitutional.
Proposition 8 was a voter-mandated ban on gay marriage that came into effect in November of 2008. Tuesday’s historic decision was made by 2-1 vote of justices in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The panel stated that the gay marriage ban in California “used the state’s initiative power to target a minority group and take away a right the group possessed, without legitimate reason.”
Judge Stephen Reinhardt, who was appointed by former President Jimmy Carter, stated, ”Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationships and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples.”
Same-sex marriage opponents will most likely appeal this decision, and it is unclear whether they will decide to try the case in front of the same court with a 14 judge panel or move directly to the Supreme Court.

Singer Seal and his supermodel wife, Heidi Klum, have announced their separation.
Much to the surprise of their friends and to the public, Heidi Klum and Seal have separated after seven years of marriage. Seal visited the “Ellen DeGeneres” and “Tavis Smiley” shows over the past few days to promote his new album, Soul 2, and made statements about the couple’s split. Seal said, “She is still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world…I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other.”
It is clear that this will not be an ugly Hollywood divorce. The couple has four children, and though Seal has made statements about the situation, there is not a clear reason for the split.
