Mediation is a great way to settle the circumstances of a divorce. However, the New Jersey Supreme Court recently ruled that mediation can be used for child custody agreements as well.
In 1997, the court ruled that mediation could be used to settle alimony disputes. This decision was an expansion of that one following a case that sent a mediated custody agreement to a trial judge.
