Genealogy research engine MooseRoots, using data from the United States Census Bureau and the National Historic Geographic Information System, released new information that showed three North Carolina cities ranked among the list of top 25 cities that saw an increase in the percentage of divorced citizens.
The report calculated the percentage change of each state’s divorce rate between the years 1970 and 2010. The threshold for cities included in the study was a population of 250,000 or more in the year 2010. North Carolina was featured on the list three times, with Greensboro coming in at number four with a 260% increase since 1970; Charlotte at number nine with a 209.09% increase; and Raleigh at number 10 with a 206.25% increase.
