“Big Momma’s House” star files for divorce

The actor and comedian who is best known for his role in Big Momma’s House has filed for divorce from his wife of less than two years.

Martin Lawrence decided to end his marriage, and listed irreconcilable differences as the main reason for the split. Lawrence and his wife, Shamicka, were together for 15 years before deciding to get married in July 2010. While they were together, Shamicka gave birth to two girls, now ages 9 and 11.

A prenuptial agreement is present in their relationship, and reveals the division of most of their assets. The custody of their children has yet to be determined, and Lawrence is hoping to have joint custody of his two daughters. They released a joint statement regarding the fact that their main focus was their children at this time.
